If you want to explore around for a day trip you will have plenty of options…but just to name a few: dive in history walking around Galle Fort Unesco Site; sit back in a catamaran and enjoy discovering Blue Lagoon or Green Lagoon; experience surf in other nearby beaches such as Ahangama ; go whale watching in Mirissa; see if you can spot the stilt fishermen; stuff your face with glorious street food; be amazed by the colours visiting a Buddhist or Hindu temple; learn how to make coconut sambol in a cooking class; wake up very early to jump in a jeep on the search for elephants in Udawalawe NP; or simply just get lost driving a scooter in the beautiful rural roads amongst fluorescent paddy fields…
But if you decided to go further along, Sri Lanka wont let you desapointed: Unesco Sites such as Sigiriya, Anuradaphura, Dambulla Caves, Polonnaruwa or Kandy for cultural thirst; Sinharaja Rainforest (Reserve of the Biosphere) , Knuckle Ranges, or Ella for stunning trekkings and mountain views; train ride to Nuwara Eliya through tea plantations to scape the heat with your woolies on and be amazed by the views; Willpattu NP, Udawalawe NP, Minneriya NP, Bundala NP and other NP for wildlife spotting; and finally the infamous climb to Adam´s Peak for wondering why did you decided to climb the 6.000 steps!
