Welcome to this little eco-corner of the world, where we combine comfort with an eco-friendly approach so you can enjoy your holiday in a way that is kind to our planet.
Hiding amongst 5.000 mt2 of lush garden, Kundala House comprises of three exclusive self- contained eco studios, each one designed under bioclimatic standards, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, living area and spectacular veranda with views to the secluded garden.
Following our ethical principles, the construction of Kundala House has always tried to have as little negative impact as possible during the process: planting 5 trees for each one of the little few that we had to chop down; the usage of only local woods and materials; buying second hand tiles, doors and windows ; rain water harvesting directly to the fish pond by the yoga shala; hot water from solar panels; LED bulbs and solar exterior lighting; fresh well water filtered and perfect for drinking to avoid plastic bottles; locating a compost bin for the veggie garden; fair salaries to workers ; cooperation with local communities…and we love up-clycing!
It can accomodate between eight to twelve guests between the three studios and the main house, which makes it an ideal setting for retreats or other type of events. A yoga shala with perfectly located hammocks overlooking the paddy fields will be the dream corner during your stay, where magic takes place every morning and evening with overwhelming light and spectacular wildlife, only 500mt from one of the most beautiful beaches in Sri Lanka.
In our garden you can spot great variety of spices such as cinnamon, vanilla or pepper; tasty coconut trees, avocados, mangos, pinnaples, bananas, mangos and papayas will provide pesticide free fruits for breakfast ( if the monkeys leave any); coffee plants, jack fruits, bread fruits, ginger, curry leaves trees, clove tree, chillie trees, cocoa trees….and of course, our little veggie garden.
Anything grown in Kundala House is 100% organic, only organic pesticides are used in our plants.
Services provided includes:
- free wifi from 07.00am to 19.00pm
- clean linen & towels every four days
- free filtered drinking water
- free toilet paper and homemade biodegradable soap
- laundry service (fee will apply)
- arrangenment of transfers (fee will apply)
- free breakfast items will be available in your kitchen (fruit, bread, coffee, etc) upon arrival so you dont need to worry shopping for the first morning
- free yoga mats and usage of yoga shala
To try to keep Kundala House a such a peaceful and sustainable area , we would ask you to please:
- keep the noise down from 10.00pm to 7.00am
- no parties
- non-guest not allowed
- dont take towels to beach
- not suitable for children under 12
- bring with you biodegradable shampoo and gel if you can
- separate waste into plastic/paper/glass/organic for the compost in the bins provided
- have a great stay!
